Black Friday 2026: AI prompts to tell a real deal from a fake one

Prompts Black Friday

Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, and "Black Friday week" sales push deals across the whole month. The oldest trick still works: raise the price before the sale so the discount looks bigger. AI can’t see each store’s price history, but it’s excellent at structuring your research and flagging what you overlooked.

1. The list before the deal

I want to buy [product] on Black Friday. My max budget is $[amount] and I’ll use it for [use]. List the 5 features that matter most for that use and 3 I can ignore without losing anything.

Deciding what matters before you see the deals is the best defense against impulse buys.

2. The real total cost

Compare these offers by total cost: [store A: price, shipping, delivery time, financing terms], [store B: ...]. Calculate the final cost of each, including any interest or fees, and tell me which is cheaper and by how much. Show the math.

Shipping, fees and buy-now-pay-later terms are where discounts disappear. Ask for the math, not just the answer, and check it.

3. Read the listing

I’ll paste a product listing. Flag anything suspicious: refurbished or open-box items not clearly labeled, a warranty different from the manufacturer’s, international versions, or a third-party seller inside a marketplace.

4. Vet the store

Make a checklist to verify whether [store name or URL] is legitimate before I pay: what to check about the domain, contact details, reviews, return policy and payment options.

The AI can’t check the store for you. It builds the list; you do the checking.

5. Suspicious message

I got this message with a deal: [paste message]. What signs point to a scam, and what should I do before clicking any link?

One thing to check before you pay

Return windows vary by store and often change for holiday purchases. Read the return policy before checkout, not after.

The best use of AI on Black Friday is as a brake, not an accelerator. Use only prompts 1 and 2 and you’ll already buy better than most. To know whether a price really dropped, start tracking the product in a price-history tool now; that’s the one thing the AI can’t do.
